Mostly Fishing in Minecraft - A Journal

Image
I started a new Minecraft survival game with the intention of advancing through the game mostly by fishing. Why fishing ? Isn’t it really boring? Yes, it is a little boring, but it is also peaceful and zen-like. And it’s a really good way to level up your XP and to get some excellent enchanted items. Fishing is easy to do. The first thing you need is a fishing rod, which you can craft with 3 sticks and 2 pieces of string on a crafting table. Once you have your first fishing rod, you can start fishing in any nearby body of water, even if it’s just a 1x1 square! Here’s my journal of my epic Minecraft fishing adventure. Starting Out I decided that if I was going to be a fisherman it would be best to go all the way. So I got myself a Fisherman skin on NameMC . I want to look the part! Day 1 I spawned in a good place to be a fisherman! I was right next to the ocean and there are plenty of oak and acacia trees nearby for wood. I started to collect the basics, including enough wood to make a

Beautiful Scenes of Nature

Image
Not a gaming post! A nature post. A beautiful scenes of nature post. I have collected some of my favorite scenes from nature and am sharing them with you here for your visual enjoyment. The long dark winter of Coronavirus may soon be behind us and it's time to get outside and enjoy the outdoors. Back to gaming soon! Starry skies over snow-covered mountains. A beautiful field of wheat. I love the golden brown hue. Girl with a bike strolling through a meadow. An expansive field of multi-colored flowers on a warm spring day. Want to see more like this? Use your own eyes and take a walk through nature . Nature walks are a great way to explore the great outdoors. They are excellent fitness for your mind and body, a way to enjoy nature at its best, and a great learning experience as well. If you plan a hike outdoors in nature, you need to be sure to take a few of these tips for nature hikes into consideration. The first thing you should do is to get your feet wet to experience outdoors.

Some More Minecraft Sunsets

Image
There's a nice subreddit dedicated just to beautiful Minecraft sunsets and you should check it out. Here are three sunsets recently posted. There is nothing more calming at the end of a long day in Minecraft than watching the sun set on the horizon. Except that you know the zombies are coming.

Minecraft Dungeons is Coming

Image
In just a little over a month, Minecraft Dungeons will be out! I'm super-excited to see it released. Read about Minecraft Dungeons release Pre-order Minecraft Dungeons The game borrows a lot from classic Minecraft, but it's an action dungeon crawler and epic adventure. Expect it to be much faster-paced than vanilla Minecraft, which defined the sandbox/creative era of gaming. Will Minecraft Dungeons resonate with long-time Minecraft fans? It will with me! But it might be too "different" or "limited" for some people's tastes. But that's ok, because the original Minecraft isn't going anywhere. Mark your calendars for May 26!

Let's Get Enchanting

Image
I need to upgrade my crappy regular iron armor in Minecraft and the best way to do it is by enchanting. Enchanting is one of the most complicated mechanics in Minecraft and I'm still wrapping my head around it. Btw, this isn't my setup in the picture above. Image credit goes to Ratliff . But he messed up and put the enchanting table too close to the bookshelves. Even I know that. These are the different Armor enchants you can perform: Protection Fire Protection Feather Falling Blast Protection Projectile Protection Respiration Aqua Affinity Thorns Depth Strider Frost Walker Curse of Binding I might start with basic Protection because it absorbs all damage. At the highest level, IV, it absorbs 16% of damage. It doesn't sound like much, but it adds up, especially in a gnarly fight! The other enchant I might use first is Respiration, which adds to your underwater breathing time. I already have a Turtle Shell helmet that I assembled when I built my own tur

Taming a Pack of Wolves

Image
My next idea in Minecraft is to tame and breed a pack of wolves and then use them to fend of a pillager raid on a village. I've tried to survive a pillager raid on my own but even after stocking up with enchanted weapons and armor and lots and lots of arrows, I still can't survive all the different raids. I got the idea from reading about how to tame a wolf . I will tame two wolves and then breed them to make little wolf pups. Once those grow and I have a pack of 5-7 wolves, I think I'll be ready to take on a village raid. This guy did it with a team of four wolves, but he had some help with potions and a Totem of Undying .

Going All In Underground in Minecraft

Image
One of the coolest things about Minecraft is that if you plan correctly, you can spend almost the entire game underground. You’ll miss out on a lot of the “above ground” activities, but the added challenge of surviving without access to the resources you’ll find on the surface gives the game an interesting twist. I decided to give it a try with a brand new survival mode game. Of course, you always spawn above ground, so I decided to give myself the following challenge: spend only the first day above ground, and then head deep underground when night fell, never to let a ray of sunshine touch me again. I’m going to give myself an easy “out” which is that I can return to the surface at night, but only if I really need to. So I guess I’m playing as a vampire…or zombie! Here’s where I spawned, out in a field with some flowers by the ocean. Over in the distance, the sun is rising over a village. That will help with getting some easy starting resources, especially if
